HP seals wear out much faster than before

Seal life depends on water quality, clean assembly and the state of plunger and cylinder.

Safety first: Switch off the pump, release all pressure (open the on/off valve or bleed-down valve) and lock out before you open any high-pressure part. Never put a hand or tool near a running jet.
1Quick questionsYour answers put the most likely cause on top.
Has your water source or filter changed?
2Check the causes, most likely first 0 of 4 checked
01Poor inlet water Most likely

Particles, silica and high TDS act like sandpaper on seals.

How to check: Test water: TDS ideally below ~100 ppm, silica low, pH about 6.5-8.5.

02Scratched plunger or cylinder Possible

A damaged surface cuts new seals.

How to check: Inspect plunger and bore at every seal change.

03Dirt or wrong lubricant at assembly Possible

One grain of dirt can cause an early leak.

How to check: Clean all parts; use the specified clean lubricant.

04Worn plunger bearing or bronze backup Less likely

A worn guide lets the plunger run off-centre.

How to check: Check backup ring and bearing for wear.
