Loud knocking from the check valve when the pump strokes

A loud knock at stroke change can come from a worn outlet seat or a sticking poppet.

Safety first: Switch off the pump, release all pressure (open the on/off valve or bleed-down valve) and lock out before you open any high-pressure part. Never put a hand or tool near a running jet.

01Worn outlet seat with lip Most likely

A worn seat forms a lip that makes the poppet open late and hard.

How to check: Inspect the outlet seat for a step or lip.
